Joyful

It radiates, like a kiss from the summer sun, it warms every soul that it touches.

Like watching flowers in spring, smiles grow on every face, a source of life.

Your joy fills the air and like fairy dust lifts everything it touches.

A smile that says hello, welcome.

A gaze that repeats I’m listening with a touch of “let’s be friends”.

You appreciate joy regardless of its appearance, accepting of one’s you’re not familiar with.

An ear that heals the wounds of rejection,

A laugh that hugs acceptance.

If acceptance was a cake, you’d be the egg, flour, sugar and batter, everything that matters.

The sun shines the same come Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall.

And every day you bring joy, untouched by the change of season.

A gift without condition, you share it freely.

A joy to all witnesses.

A purity that gives every beholder a desire for more.

I watch you smile every day, and as cliché as it seems it catches the eye of everyone who’s fortunate enough to see it. There’s beauty in its pureness, a soft smile that’s never forced, what people see as smiles and laughter I see as joy. And blessed with the opportunity to witness your excitement firsthand I can’t help but be filled by your fountain, warmed by your joy. Seeing the world again for the first time, excited to adventure with you. Where I want to ride shotgun and see what’s going to be new, again.

Without condition you greet with a warming smile, inviting trust an antidote to pain, a medicine for chaos. When my mind is anxious and fogged with what ifs, your tone, smile, and gaze ease me into reality, reminding me of how beautiful this moment is. If joy was a tree, you’d be an orchard.
